John J. QuickMarch 7, 1932 ~ February 14, 2017 (age 84)
John Joseph Quick of Irvington, NY passed away on February 14, 2017. John was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was born March 7, 1932 to George and Florence Reardon Quick in a house in Ardsley, NY. He was a life-long resident of Irvington and graduated from Irvington High School in 1950. On April 7, 1956 he married his wife of 51 years Monica Geoghegan Quick in a ceremony in White Plains, NY. His life’s work was as a Glazier and was a proud member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, Local 1087 until his retirement in 1991. In his retirement he traveled often with Monica, and was able to visit many of the world’s great cities. He was an active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Irvington and also served as an Irvington volunteer Fireman and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Elmo’s Council. John was predeceased by his loving wife Monica, and is survived by his son Sean Quick and his daughter-in-law Julie Porter Quick and his three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Hannah and Evan all of Huntersville, NC. He is also survived by his sisters Dorothy MCallister-Mason of Southern Pines, NC and Catherine Morrison of Irvington, NY and brothers George Quick and his wife Jessica of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Thomas Quick and his wife Rose of Dobbs Ferry, NY and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Florence Dupree. Visiting at the Dwyer & Vanderbilt Funeral Home, Tarrytown, NY on Monday February 20, 2017 from 4-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church, Irvington, NY on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 10 am. Internment following at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Sleepy Hollow, NY.
