Nicholas Michael Legnini

January 26, 1931 ~ September 21, 2017 (age 86)

The Piano Brothers

Nicholas Legnini, loving husband and resident of Sleepy Hollow, died peacefully on September 21, 2017.  He was 86.  Nicholas was born January 26, 1931 in the Little Italy neighborhood of the Bronx.  Nicholas was a Mechanical Engineer and worked as the Production Manager for Curtis Instruments in Mt Kisco before his retirement in 1996.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carmela Legnini (nee Cornacchia), his sister Clara Legnini Imbarrato, 11 nieces and nephews and 19 grand nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
Nick loved to fish and sail and spend time with his family.
Nick will be remembered for his pioneer work in helping to set up  Curtis Industries first factory in Sofia, Bulgaria.  Nick and Carmela, a first grade teacher, moved to Bulgaria for almost one year, shortly following the fall of communism in Bulgaria.   It was  a challenging time, and an experience of a lifetime for them, to be there at such a momentous time and to witness the winds of change for the Bulgarian people.
Nick was a brilliant, caring, strong, funny, happy, truly nice man who was a favorite of anyone who knew him.  He was deeply loved and we are all missing a piece of our hearts.
