Emma Jean Chu, 89, of Basking Ridge, NJ passed away on April 24, 2018. Emma was born in New York City on January 9, 1929. She was awarded a full scholarship to the Franklin School of Professional Arts to study drawing and painting in 1946. Even after she married, she continued her passion for art. Emma and her husband of 57 years, Dr. Foen Chu of NYC, raised four daughters in Westchester, NY. She was still painting up until her passing. Emma not only loved drawing and painting, but she loved reading, travel, the world of finance, and animals. Her creative outlets included sewing, mixed media, knitting, and sculpting. Emma is survived by four daughters and their husbands: Cori and Bill Fedyna of Frederick, MD; Linn and Ed Lavin of Geneva, NY; Caren and Rob Leventhal of Basking Ridge, NJ; and Adrian and Michael Redmond of Charlotte, NC. In addition, she is survived by 9 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Emma Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Foen B. Chu, and her parents, Chiu Yuen and Emma Lui. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to start a fund to thank Hospice and all those who so lovingly cared for Emma.
